Comedian Ali Gul Pir, who recently welcomed a baby with his wife, shared a sarcastic video highlighting the unsolicited warnings and backhanded comments new parents often receive. He emphasised that society needed to learn to let parents experience the joyful milestone of parenthood without unnecessary negativity.

In the clip, the comedian pointed out that people continue making discouraging remarks no matter how old their child gets, never allowing parents to simply enjoy the experience.

Among the comments he highlighted were: “You guys had a kid, now your life is finished,” “Now he’s 10 years old, he’ll have you running all over the place,” and “He’s 20 now. When he goes off to college, you guys will be crying.”

Pir also addressed the comments parents receive about their pets after having children, such as, “You guys should get rid of your pets now that the baby has come.” The comedian responded to such advice, saying, “Pets are not placeholders that you get rid of once you have kids. Studies actually show that children who grow up with pets have fewer allergies and are more compassionate.”

Concluding the skit, Pir offered a message of perspective to those who give warnings to others amid big milestones in their life such as getting married or having a baby. “Why do you guys give so many warnings? Like everything big you do in life requires sacrifice. Even if things are difficult, overlook them because you can find thousands of very good things, and find happiness, focus on that.”
