Police have launched a manhunt to arrest suspects involved in the alleged torture, sexual assault, and subsequent death of a young labourer in the Amooki area of Sheikhupura, but no arrests have been made so far.
The family allege that the main suspects remain at large even two days after the registration of the case.
A case was registered at Sadar Police Station Sheikhupura on June 1 on the complaint of the victim’s father, Muhammad Boota.
As per the FIR, 25-year-old Fulk Sher was taken away from his neighbourhood late at night by a local man, Riyasat Ali, under the pretext of an urgent discussion.
When he did not return for several hours, residents later reported hearing screams coming from a nearby house.
Upon reaching the location, locals allegedly found five suspects, described as already feared in the area, torturing the young man in a naked and semi-conscious state.
A video that circulated on social media reportedly shows the victim in an unconscious condition while being subjected to violence.
The person recording the video is heard alleging that the victim was first tied to a bed, sexually assaulted and then brutally tortured, including being burned on the back and beaten with sticks.
Rescue 1122 personnel reached the scene, provided initial medical assistance, and shifted the victim to hospital in critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries.
Local sources claim the suspects are influential individuals and alleged drug users. They further stated that a minor dispute had taken place between the victim and the suspects a few days earlier, which had reportedly been settled through local mediation.
However, they allege the suspects harboured resentment and later lured the victim before carrying out the attack.
Sadar Police Station SHO Mian Naveed Ashraf confirmed that a case has been registered immediately after the complaint and raids are underway to arrest the suspects.
He said all efforts are being made to apprehend the accused soon and ensure they are brought to justice.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneShahid KhanRead More
