Karachi police on Thursday registered a case against the son of a retired police officer and his security guard following a shooting incident in the Clifton area that left Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) inspector Shahmir Khan Lashari critically wounded.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Mehzor Ali, the shooting occurred after the vehicles collided. “During the altercation, the suspect Agha Shaheer, opened fire, injuring the FBR inspector with three bullets to his abdomen and legs,” he said.
Mehzor further stated that Lashari was immediately rushed to the hospital, while the suspect, Shaheer, fled the scene.
“Shaheer is the son of retired SP Agha Asghar Pathan. The police have registered a case and launched a search for the suspect, while CCTV footage of the incident is also being obtained,” Mehzor added.

The First Information Report (FIR), registered at Clifton Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s brother, Shahzeb Lashari, stated that the primary suspect was Agha Shaheer, along with his armed guard.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Shahzeb explained that “they were returning home after dinner in Gizri when their car’s side mirror brushed against another vehicle. Both parties exited their vehicles to discuss the matter.”
“Meanwhile, armed guards from the second vehicle emerged and pointed weapons at them. A young man, later identified as Shaheer, also stepped out and opened fire after a brief altercation,” Shahzeb said.
He further added that Shaheer fled the scene after firing and that they did not know him initially. However, after obtaining his picture from social media, they discovered that he was the son of a retired police officer.

Barrister Iftikhar Shah, who was present with the victims, called for a transparent investigation, urging the police to secure CCTV footage from the Safe City project cameras installed at the site to establish the facts.
Taking notice of the incident, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar directed the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South to submit a detailed report immediately.
