Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested six suspects, including a long-serving employee of a jewellery shop, in connection with a massive burglary at Iqbal Market in Orangi Town, recovering stolen gold, diamonds and other valuables worth Rs300 million.
Addressing a press conference, DIG West Irfan Ali Baloch said the break-in took place on the night between February 12 and 13 at a jewellery outlet in Sector 11½. The suspects allegedly handcuffed the security guard before breaching the shop’s rear wall – which backed onto the vault – and escaping with gold ornaments, diamonds and other items estimated at Rs300 million. Within 48 hours, police arrested the alleged ringleader, Ameer Alam alias Amir – an employee who had worked at the shop for 15 years.Latest News, Breaking News & Top News Stories | The Express TribuneOur CorrespondentRead More
